Why Entrepreneurial Leadership at Iona?

You will develop an entrepreneurial mindset, which will give you unique and essential skills as you set out to build your career in an increasingly dynamic and complex world.

You will have the opportunity to apply your entrepreneurial mindset to pursue careers as ethical leaders.

The program is experiential and interdisciplinary in nature and culminates with an entrepreneurial internship or entrepreneurship in practice experience.

You will be part of the visionary Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Iona’s hub for all things innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2019, we opened a beautiful and modern new collaborative workspace in the heart of campus to house all of the Institute’s activities and programs, including:

  • Coworking space where you can share and develop ideas with peers, faculty and mentors;
  • Robust mentoring network;
  • Executive-in-Residence;
  • GaelVentures – our community incubator space.

What You'll Learn

You’ll discover how to be a leader and problem-solver in an ever-changing world—and learn to adapt by creating innovative solutions through the entrepreneurial process.

You’ll gain hands-on experience designing and prototyping solutions, concepts, and products in different settings—social, business, arts, health, etc. You’ll also learn the ethics of entrepreneurial leadership, and you will develop the confidence and skills to work collaboratively with a team, give compelling presentations, and deal comfortably with uncertainty.

Space to Create

You’ll have access to Iona’s coworking and incubator spaces. The Hynes Institute new, 3,800-square-foot state-of-the-art space offers a modern, sustainable home for creativity on campus. Work alongside fellow students, mentors, and faculty members to develop your ideas and gain new perspectives on your work.

From networking sessions to workshops to innovation competitions, there’s always something going on at the Institute. Students are welcome to enhance their extracurricular learning experience by participating in the many Hynes Institute events.


In this program, you’ll have access to GaelVentures, Iona’s own community incubator space. Work alongside fellow students, mentors, entrepreneur-in-residence and faculty members to develop your ideas and gain new perspectives on your work.

Entrepreneur-in-Residence: Danny Potocki '06

Danny Potocki

Danny Potocki joined the Hynes Institute as its first entrepreneur-in-residence. Potocki is managing director of Accel7, an accelerator that invests in and advises environmental, social and governance (ESG) companies. He'll focus on building the Institute's mentorship network.
