Passport Western Europe – Dublin, Barcelona, Rome – Fall Semester

This program is an incredible opportunity to spend the fall semester studying in and exploring three European cities: Dublin, Barcelona and Rome. Students will spend three five-week periods in each of these cities taking six courses and earning a total of 18 credits.

The courses offered are the following:

Ireland:
  • ECO 335 – Current Economic Issues
  • ENG 343 – Irish Literature
  • PHL 309 – Major Representatives of modern Philosophy
Spain:
  • POL 491 – Special Topics: Political & Cultural Thought of Spain
  • HST 491 – Special Topics: Contemporary History of Spain
  • FPA 491 – Special Topics: Art & Architecture in Barcelona
Italy:
  • FPA 420 – Special Topics: Art of Rome
  • RST 420 – Special Topics: Sacred Spaces - Religious Art and Architecture of Rome
  • Third Course – TBD
*Students must take two courses in each country.
*Students can not change designated courses after the add/drop deadline noted in the Academic Calendar deadlines. These dates are subject to change per term, so take note of these while registering for courses. Please refer to the

In Dublin’s five-week session, students will be living and attending classes at Marino Institute – Trinity College. The five-week Barcelona component will take place at Universitat Internacionat de Catalunya (UIC). American University Rome (AUR) will host the Rome component of the last five-week session. Breakfast and lunch are offered in Dublin and Barcelona Monday – Thursday.
 
Classes are taught Monday through Thursday, leaving weekends for individual travel. As an integral part of this program, there are guided field trips offering added cultural integration such as walking tours that include many visits.

Iona offers the Passport – Western Europe Program at a cost that is equal to one semester of study in New Rochelle, plus room and board. Airfare, additional travel, mandatory travel health insurance and some meals are not included.
