Robert Burns, Ph.D.
Bob Burns, associate professor of Marriage and Family Therapy, has been at Iona College for over four decades. He is currently the Program Director of Iona’s Master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy and led the department’s successful efforts to achieve its initial accreditation from COAMFTE in 2009 and its re-accreditation this past spring. He has taught almost every course in the MFT curriculum and supervised students in the Family Therapy Center since 1971 when he was instrumental in establishing the clinic as a training arm of the program.
He holds NYS licenses in both Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. Bob has been a licensed psychologist in New York since 1971 and has worked in a variety of settings, including psychiatric clinics, residential treatment centers, hospitals, schools and independent practice. He has completed training in Critical Incident De-briefing and served at the World Trade Center and the Boston Marathon Bombing.
