Computer Science Department Hosts Alumni Event
The Computer Science Department organized its traditional gathering of alumni, students, faculty and guests on April 21, 2017. Dr. Frances Bailie
welcomed the attendees with a brief overview of important news since last year’s alumni event.
Three alumni, Jay Velasco ’13, ’14MS, Joshua Espinosa ’15, ’16MS, and Bryan Chaiklin ’10 shared their professional experiences, reflected on their days as Iona students and gave valuable advice to the students.
The entertainment throughout the evening was enjoyable. Dr. Lubomir Ivanov
performed popular classics on an acoustic guitar and good old rock on an electric guitar. Willmor Peña (guitar) and his brother Sebastian (quena) performed selections of Peruvian music.
A cryptography game prepared by Dr. Walter Krawec
brought some gift cards to the best and fastest solvers. A new feature of this year’s event was an exchange of resumes and internship/job opportunities between students and alumni. Attendees enjoyed the program and the friendly atmosphere of this wonderful annual event. We all look forward to continuing with this great tradition.
