CS Alumni Event 2019

Speaker at the microphone. An attendee listens attentively to the speaker.

On April 26, 2019, the Iona Computer Science Department held their traditional alumni, students and friends event. The event was kicked off by a Design Challenge exercise led by Jarlyne Batista from the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Computer Science alumni Amy Lewis, Nina Ramos, and Jeff Kalman gave inspiring speeches. All who attended, and particularly our current students, can truly benefit from the professional experiences, career choices and paths that the speakers shared with the audience. Dr. Bailie introduced our newest faculty member, Dr. Erald Troja, and spoke about new CS offerings in Data Science and Entrepreneurship. Under the capable direction of Dr. Kim, CS Club members Nicholas Bozentko, Anthony Calise and Brandon Neilsen gave an exciting demonstration of voice-controlled drones. CS majors Amanda Aebig, Ileana Palesi, Kathryn Kenny, Brandon Neilsen, Joshua Gitter, and Michael Nelson presented a summary of their current research projects. And last, but certainly not least, Dr. Ivanov entertained us with his awesome guitar playing. We look forward to next year's gathering!
