Presenting Cyber Security Awareness to Prospective Students
Paolina Centonze, Ph.D.
, professor of Computer Science, led a group of Iona College students majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Cyber Security in presenting to prospective Iona’s students and their parents on November 8. The topics of the presentation included cyber security awareness, summer internships, honors and master’s thesis, software security projects advised by Dr. Centonze and more.
This initiative is part of an effort, led by Dr. Centonze, to apply for the National Security Alliance (NSA) Centers of Academic Excellence - Cyber Operations accreditation for the Computer Science programs. Part of this effort is to outreach to the community to encourage the spread of education related to cyber operations, and to participate in activities that contribute to growing and strengthening the cyber operations community.
This project is part of the program in support of the U.S. president's National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) plan, "Building a Digital Nation," and furthers the goal to broaden the pool of skilled workers capable of supporting a cyber-secure nation. Learn more about the NICE plan.
