Catherine Schaeffer

Cathy Schaeffer, MS.Ed., is a special education teacher in Pelham, N.Y., with 29 years of teaching experience. She received her BA in psychology from the College of New Rochelle and her MS in special education from Lehman College. Cathy started her career teaching pre-vocational skills to 16 to 21-year-old high school students. After her HS teaching experience, she decided to accept a position in New York City teaching students with autism. Cathy left the city to work as an elementary teacher in Pelham public schools, and currently teaches students with disabilities in the ACE Learning Program in Pelham. She has facilitated parent training workshops, team meetings and staff training. In addition to teaching, Cathy has been an adjunct professor at Manhattan College’s graduate school. She enjoys using technology tools in her educational practice and is an Apple app developer, creating an application for basic communication. She currently resides in Eastchester, N.Y., with her 20-year-old son, Chris. Cathy can be contacted at schaeffercjc@msn.com.
