Jeffrey Cole has worked in public schools in New York as a classroom teacher, program supervisor, and administrator for more than 10 years. In addition to serving as an adjunct professor at Iona, he serves as the assistant director of Special and Alternate Education for the City of New Rochelle. Working within the school district to increase student and faculty engagement toward achieving Common Core Learning Standards, he has implemented community-based projects that support education for students with mild to moderate disabilities, led efforts in redesigning instructional practice in elementary and secondary literacy and transformed the use of formative assessment data. His research interests include the use of technology to advance literacy instruction, use of formative assessment and early literacy intervention. Cole received his master’s degree in Organization Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College in 2011.
