Performers: Dan Liang, Alyssa Pulsi, Dominique Bryden, Ashley Vera, Khris Annecia Lewis, Olivia Conte, Elizabeth DeLeo, Danielle Plarinas, Alexa Fiorillo, Matthew George

Dancers hold hands on stage in orange/brown lighting. The dance is a collaboration inspired by the following questions: What is our human relationship to the structures we have created? Do they imprison us? Make us feel safe? How have we adapted to these structures over centuries?

“Open Enclosure”

Choreography: Dr. Hannah Park in collaboration with the performers.

Performers: Dan Liang, Alyssa Pulsi, Dominique Bryden, Ashley Vera, Khris Annecia Lewis, Olivia Conte, Elizabeth DeLeo, Danielle Plarinas, Alexa Fiorillo, Matthew George

Dancers leap on stage in purple background lighting. This contemporary hip-hop inspired dance investigates some key elements that hip-hop highlights such as community, individual identity, and key dance movement vocabularies, while exploring each performer’s unique authentic movement preferences, styles and quest for acceptance. The piece explores questions like “What am I not that others perceive I am?” The process required several layers of movement building, dance sculptures, and explorations of movement sentences, entrances and exits, and relationships within a group.
