Dr. Pilar Caballero joined the Foreign Languages Department at Iona College in 2016. She specializes in Spanish Peninsular poetry of the avant-garde, transatlantic literature, pre-Spanish Civil war visual narratives and translation. Prior to Iona College, she taught language courses, 20th Century Peninsular Literature, Women's Voices in Literature, Spanish Civilization and Translation courses at FHSU, Kansas, and at the University of Calgary, Canada. At Iona College, she teaches language courses, composition, Spanish Peninsular literature and translation courses.

Dr. Caballero has published on avant-garde poetry and photography and has presented her research at conferences nationally and internationally on those topics.  She is currently working on feminist writers of the avant-garde in Spain.
