Dr. Slonimsky recently received her Ph.D. in history at the CUNY Graduate Center, where she studied the intersection of legal, book and political history. She also holds an MA in American Studies from CUNY and a BA in English Literature and History from Binghamton University. She taught history for several years at Hunter College and served as a Writing Across the Curriculum fellow at Lehman College. Prior to returning to New York to begin her position as the Gardiner Assistant Professor of History at Iona College and the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies, Dr. Slonimsky spent her final year of graduate school in Philadelphia as an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow in Early American Literature and Material Texts at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
