Graduate Programs

Graduate Advisement and Registration

Prior to the beginning of each semester all graduate students must meet with the Program Director (Dr. Jack Breslin) to be advised on course selection. Typically, advisement begins one month prior to end of the current semester. To make an appointment with Professor Breslin please write to him at, call our Department at (914) 633-2229, or come to our offices located on the third floor of the Murphy Center.

Students may be admitted to the graduate program as matriculated.

Students must complete a Request for Matriculation Form which is available from the Office of the Dean of Arts and Science (1st floor Murphy Center). Completion of the form requires reference letters from three Departmental faculty members. In addition, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Culmination Experience

For PR students, the final research project is a synthesis of concepts and application supported by research in the specific specialization field defined by the student, either public relations or corporate communications. It should provide insight into a topic of interest for the student and demonstrate mastery of the specialization.

The two-course requirement may be fulfilled by a traditional thesis, a fact-based case study or a complete promotional program. The project is undertaken under the direction of a faculty member with specific expertise and experience in the area being studied.

As an alternative to the two-course final project, PR students may elect to take a comprehensive exam and write a 10-page research paper.
