BA in Mass Communication with a concentration in Journalism

As Thomas Jefferson once put it, “Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press.” Hundreds of years later, in a world of ever-shrinking news cycles, “fake news,” and vigorous attacks against the press, the need for highly trained journalists is greater than ever. With a concentration in journalism, you’ll develop the skills to cover the stories the nation’s democracy depends on. You’ll also become ready to apply your talent to other areas of journalism, including entertainment, sports, business affairs, and environmental issues.

Jobs in journalism include:
  • Copy Editor
  • Data Analyst

  • Features Writer
  • Journalist
  • News Correspondent
