Dr. Krishnan received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa in 2001. He worked under Dr. Alan Hopenwasser in the field of Operator Algebras. He is currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics and the Chair of the Mathematics Department. He has peer reviewed publications in various international journals including the Illinois Journal of Mathematics, Oxford University Press, Canadian Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences, Surveys in Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences (Pushpa publishing House.) His current research interests are in functional analysis and Operator Algebras and his recent publication and conference presentation involved the Kadison-Singer Conjecture (proved recently by researchers from Yale University.)
He has taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in Mathematics and is also the recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Department of Mathematics, University of Alabama in 1999. He mentors students in their research activities and he was the faculty advisor to three math majors from Iona who received honorable mention in the international contest in modeling sponsored by the Consortium of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, COMAP in 2006. He has also reviewed various articles/papers submitted to journals of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM.) He has served on various college-wide committees including the RTA and the freshmen advising committee.
