Dr. Oswald is a NYS licensed psychologist whose specialties are in the area of organizational psychology, and psychological assessment and counseling. She received a master's degree and a Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a master's degree in Psychological Assessment and Counseling from Long Island University. Dr. Oswald's prior senior leadership roles include serving for six years as assistant chair of the Psychology Department. Previously, she served as acting dean and assistant dean for eight years. During that time, she was responsible for bachelor's degree programs and non-credit training programs designed for returning adult students. Dr. Oswald's research interests include the areas of leadership style; self-promotion and selection; empathy and helping behavior; organizational issues related to gender-based stereotyping, work roles, and selection; and using technology to teach psychology. In addition to authoring two books and several book chapters, Dr. Oswald's research articles have been published in the Journal of Social Psychology, Sex Roles, Teaching of Psychology, Psychological Reports, Journal of Computing, and other peer-reviewed volumes. She is a member of the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP); New England Psychological Association (NEPA); Eastern Psychological Association (EPA); and American Psychological Association (APA), including Division 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) and Division 8 (Society for Personality and Social Psychology). Dr. Oswald also enjoys exploring the use of technology in teaching, especially in her quantitative research methods courses.
