The CSD Program will increase the number of faculty and student publications and presentations.

Action Step 5.1 Create and maintain an environment that supports faculty scholarship and research.

At least one publication and presentation per year per faculty member, at least one external grant application per department per year

  • Increased New York State Speech Language and Hearing Association presence (e.g., Dr. Veyvoda served on the association’s board for the 2016-2017 academic year); created a brochure to advertise faculty research (Fall 2016); created department newsletter to share faculty research updates
  • Rotary club grant (January 2016) for new portable audiometers
  • Gold Foundation grant (Fall 2015) for humanism in medicine (guest presentation)
  • Would like to increase grant applications

Action Step 5.3 Develop a department supported, incentive-based student travel grant program.

Action Step 5.4 Assess instrumentation for faculty/student research laboratories, and identify the need for new and/or replacement items and allocate budget accordingly.
