Summary of Iona College – LECOM Early Acceptance Program for Medical (DO), Dental (DDM) and Pharmacy Schools

Medical School Agreement

  • Prospective students can apply to the early acceptance program (EAP) in their senior year of high school or in their freshman and sophomore years at Iona College.
  • Qualified students have a provisional “seat’ in medical school based on SAT score, high school and Iona College GPA. The MCAT is not required.
  • LECOM bases acceptance into the EAP using an academic index score. Students with an SAT score of > 1240 (Math and Verbal)(ACT>26) with an un-weighted high school GPA of > 3.5 qualify for the program. The academic index score is available upon request.
  • An accelerated “3+4” is available for highly qualified applicants. Please contact the Health Professions Advisor for details.
  • LECOM does not accept Advanced Placement, CLEP or IB credits for required medical school prerequisite courses (Addendum B).
  • LECOM has three medical school campuses. Two are located in Pennsylvania and one is in Bradenton, Florida.

Dental School Agreement

  • Prospective students can apply to the EAP in their senior year of high school or as a freshman at Iona College.
  • The minimum requirements for acceptance are similar to those of the medical school – 1240 SAT (Math and Verbal) with un-weighted high school GPA of 3.5.
  • Students in the EAP dental program are required to take the DAT. Students should score a 19 or greater on the DAT. This is a very reasonable score.
  • There is no “3+4” option for the dental program.
  • LECOM’s dental school is located in Bradenton, Florida.

Pharmacy School Agreement

  • Prospective students can apply to the EAP in their senior year of high school or as a freshman at Iona College.
  • Qualified students have a provisional “seat’ in pharmacy school based on SAT score, high school and Iona College GPA. The PCAT is only required for students in the “3+4”. It is recommended (but not required) for students in the regular EAP.
  • LECOM bases acceptance into the EAP using students’ SAT scores [> 1240 (Math and Verbal)(ACT>26)] and un-weighted high school GPA (> 3.5). LECOM does accept Advanced Placement for required pharmacy school prerequisite courses (AP score 4 or 5).
  • LECOM has two pharmacy school campuses. One is located in Pennsylvania and the other is in Bradenton, Florida.
