What did Iona College’s SEM Business program and/or faculty mean to you?
The program allowed me to strengthen my knowledge on all things marketing, as well as learn about parts of the industry I didn’t know about. The faculty is always more than willing to help you achieve your goals- in and out of the classroom.

What was the most beneficial aspect of the program that potential students should know about?
I believe the most beneficial aspect of the program was the Sports and Entertainment Dinner Series, as well as the opportunity to have professors who are currently working, or worked, in the industry. These connections allow you to get to know people who are already in the business, which could lead to an opportunity for you, as a student.

How did the program help your career?
A few months after I finished the program, I reached out to Glenn Horine because I had an interview for an opportunity at a marketing firm in Connecticut. Through this conversation, he told me there may be an opportunity for me with one of my previous professors, Scott Miranda. I reached out to Scott and within a week, I had a full-time job at DKC News as a publicity assistant; a PR Consulting and Management Services Firm.

What was the most memorable experience in being part of the program?
I think the most memorable part of the SEMB program was the professors and group projects that I worked on. The professors are currently working in or have previously worked in the industry and have first-hand experience. The lessons they teach are things you can apply in your life to become a better marketer, assistant, etc.

What are you doing now? Please include your current title and a brief description of your role.
Currently, I am a publicity assistant at DKC in the sports group. I assist a managing director, an account supervisor and two account executives. My daily responsibilities include pitching several media outlets, tracking coverage, creating pitches and updating media reports.
