BBA in Accounting, 2015
MBA in Finance with Certificates in International Business and Public Accounting, Expected 2016

As an undergraduate Iona student, I majored in accounting and was given the opportunity to network with a great team of professors in the Accounting Department. I was able to connect with companies in the city through my professors, who have both the knowledge and experience to back up their credentials. I worked my first accounting internship as a sophomore at ITT Corporation, where I worked for more than a year. Also as a sophomore, I participated in a volunteer tax return program in the School of Business, where I worked with a professor and Assemblyman Michael Benedetto to complete tax returns for retired citizens. I was provided with mentorship and hands-on experience with federal taxation. As a junior, conducted research with a professor to complete my honors thesis focused on nonprofit organizations, which is what I want to be involved in years from now. With the help of my advisers, I graduated a year early as an Honors student and received the Accounting Baccalaureate Medal at Honors Convocation. As a graduate student, I am currently working on interviewing with one of the Big Four accounting firms, in hopes of having a job lined up after graduation. The accounting program has helped mold me into the well-rounded student I am today, and continues to provide opportunities that give me a competitive advantage in my career.
