Admissions Criteria

What We Look For

Iona College seeks individuals who are challenged to be ethical and skilled decision-makers motivated to leadership and service. We select freshmen based on a competitive high school curriculum, grades in academic subjects, SAT/ACT scores, class rank, and extracurricular experiences. Personal characteristics and potential to succeed are highly valued.
What we look for:

  • GPA of an 85 (3.0)
  • SAT scores above 1050 (verbal and math sections only)
  • Or ACT scores above a 22 (composite score)

Wherever possible, we want our application process to be more about YOU and your high school experience…as seen through your eyes. And while not required, an essay can tell us something about you that we would never know just by looking at test scores. After receipt of all required materials, if we determine a need for letters of recommendation (and/or an interview) to help us make either an admission or scholarship decision, we will contact you.
