An entrepreneur and social activist, Roger Rojas ’16, is creating his own opportunities and inspiring others to Move the World. As a business management major, Roger was widely involved on the Iona campus as a member of Pi Kappa Phi, president of the Iona College Management Club, student leader for mission trips, and a tour guide for Iona Admissions.
Originally from Miami, Fla., Roger attended Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Prep, a Christian Brothers high school. After learning more about Iona College from Br. Jason Ford, Roger knew that Iona, with its reputation for academic excellence and its mission to make a positive impact on the lives of others, would be the place for him.
“Iona College is a school with a family environment. It's a unique place where you can create your own opportunities, clubs or mission trips and pave your own way,” says Roger.
Upon graduation, he started his media agency, R.insightsMedia, which focuses on content creation and social media. Since founding the agency, he has created content for companies such as Equinox NYC, Excel Sports Management and The Nordic Edge cryotherapy company. In addition, Roger and his friend, Frankie Dag ’14, co-founded Style Society Barbershop located on North Avenue.
When he’s not busy running two growing businesses, Roger dedicates his time as a USA ambassador to The Justice Desk in South Africa, whose mission is to empower, educate, and equips groups to be agents of change through advocacy, education and awareness, and training programs.
In reflecting back on his time at Iona, Roger shares, “I can confidently say that I would not be the person I am today if it wasn't for the opportunities that Iona College gave me as an undergrad. Don't look back on your four years and wish you went somewhere-else and pick a school that gives you opportunities.”
