My Iona

Iona University on Campus Testing Policy for Employees

As part of compliance with the Iona University Vaccination Policy, non-vaccinated employees must submit a weekly Covid Test starting the week of January 30, 2022. Please review the guidelines outlined in this policy carefully and reach out to Human Resources with any questions.

Non-vaccinated employees include any employee who has not received their initial Covid Vaccine. Vaccinated employees would include anyone who received the initial 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna or the 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson. For purposes of ETS compliance, the booster shot is not yet required.

Non-vaccinated employees who report to the workplace at least once every seven days:

  • (A) must be tested for COVID-19 at least once every seven days; and
  • (B) must provide documentation of the most recent COVID-19 test result to Human Resources via the Paycom portal no later than the seventh day following the date on which the employee last provided a test result.

Any employee who does not report to the workplace during a period of seven or more days (e.g., if they were teleworking for two weeks prior to reporting to the workplace):

  • (A) must be tested for COVID-19 within seven days prior to returning to the workplace; and
  • (B) must provide documentation of that test result to Human Resources prior to return to the workplace.

If an employee does not provide documentation of a COVID-19 test result as required by this policy, they will not be allowed to work on campus until they provide a test result. The employee will be subject to disciplinary action for non-compliance with testing requirements.

Employees who have received a positive COVID-19 test or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 by a licensed healthcare provider are not required to undergo COVID-19 testing for 90 days following the date of their positive test. Employees must submit their COVID-19 test results from a licensed medical provider to hr@iona.edu. Home tests will not be accepted as proof of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Employees will have the option to test on campus for a fee or may test off campus on their own time. Self-administered home tests will not be accepted. The test results must include the employee’s name, date of birth and date of test. Test result documentation must be uploaded to Paycom each week.

Fees for On-Campus Testing

Non-vaccinated employees who elect to test on-campus will be required to enroll in the weekly testing program. The fee for the Spring semester will be $500 per employee. This fee will cover the cost of staffing a team of nurses and administrative personnel to manage the testing center, the cost of PPE and the cost of the test supplies. Employees who elect this option will have the weekly cost deducted from their paycheck as follows:

  • Faculty (Full Time and Adjuncts) - $125/paycheck ($500 for the semester) for the months of February through May 2022
  • Staff/Administrative Employees - $62.50/paycheck ($500 for the semester) for the months of February through May 2022

Employee testing hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m.– noon at the Arrigoni Center. Only non-vaccinated employees who have opted in for on-campus testing will be eligible for testing at Arrigoni during these times. Walk-ins will not be accepted for weekly testing.

Non-vaccinated employees will receive an opt-in agreement by Tuesday, January 18 with a deadline to return by Monday, January 24. Employees who do not opt-in by this date will not be eligible for on-campus weekly testing.

A few important notes:

  1. Non-vaccinated employees may test off campus on their own time for free at many test sites. Please check your area for test sites near your home.
  2. All employees who have not submitted their Vaccine Card to Paycom will be included in the weekly testing group. If you are vaccinated, please upload your card to Paycom today or send a copy of your card to hr@iona.edu for uploading to Paycom.
  3. If a non-vaccinated employee gets the vaccine, they will be removed from the weekly testing group and payroll deductions will stop with the payroll following their initial shot. Payroll changes will not be made retroactively for employees who do not upload proof of vaccine in a timely manner.

Please reach out to Human Resources at hr@iona.edu with any questions.
