As part of the college core, all incoming degree-seeking students are required to take COL 150, the Columba Cornerstone, which is linked with another class. These are called Learning Communities. When you go to register for these courses, it is important to register for both classes at the same time or your registration will not go through. If you are creating your schedule, getting your Learning Community schedule is a great place to start. Let’s take a look at this process.To register for any course, the first step is to go to Student Center in PeopleSoft. If you are unsure how to do that, check out our video on how to get to Student Center for detailed steps. From Student Center, click on ‘Enroll’ on the left hand side of the Academics area. From the classes to add page, select the ‘search’ button under the Find Classes section. On this page, use the dropdown on the Subject field to select Columba Cornerstone. Click on the Search button at the bottom of the page. A list of all the cornerstone classes will be displayed, scroll down the page to see all your options. Look through the listing of Cornerstone courses being offered. If you want to know more information about one, click on it’s section name. In this example I will be clicking on COL150 – F11H. On this page, there are a few things to keep in mind: Under enrollment information, the other course that is part of this learning community will be listed. Make note of this as you will need to register in it at the same time in order to add this Columba Cornerstone section to your schedule. The theme for the Columba Cornerstone is listed on the Topic line, in this case it is ‘Justice’. When you are ready, click on the select button for the section you wish to add to your shopping cart. You will be shown a screen with information related to the section, make sure it is the one you want, if you have not done so already, make note of the learning community section you must enroll in. This will be needed in the next step. When ready, click ‘Next’. On this page, you can see the Cornerstone section you have already selected and added to your shopping cart. Now it is time to search, find, and add the paired learning community course to go with the Columba Cornerstone course. Use the dropdown Subject field and the text box for Course number to search for the course you need to add. In this example we need to find section F11 for a Math 134 course, so I have selected Mathematics as the Subject and put in 134 into the Course Number field. This information is for the course that is paired with the Columba Cornerstone course that has already been selected. When ready, click Search. Look for the paired course to your Columba cornerstone section. In this example it is F11. Click on Select for that section. Confirm that the enrollment information matches the Columba Cornerstone that you have already selected. When ready, click the next button to add the course to your shopping cart. Now that you have both courses of the learning community in your shopping cart, it is time to confirm and register for the courses. Click on ‘Proceed to Step 2 of 3. Make sure the courses listed are the ones you wish to enroll in. When ready, click ‘Finish Enrolling’. Read and make sure all your personal information is correct. If it is not, you should update it by clicking on the item that is incorrect. When you are ready, click on ‘Contact Information is Correct’ Read through the terms page carefully and when you are ready, click on ‘I understand and accept’. Read the results page carefully. You should see a green checkmark and a message of success for each course you tried to add. Congrats! You have successfully enrolled in your Learning Community paired courses. Congrats, you have successfully learned how to enroll in a Learning Community pair of classes. This is a great way to start building your schedule. To review: Select ‘Enroll’ from the Student Center in PeopleSoft. Search for and select your Columba Cornerstone course first. Make note of which paired course you will need to enroll in. Search for and select the paired course to add to your shopping cart. Proceed to step 2 and confirm your courses. Confirm your personal information/agree to the terms. Check the results to confirm you have successfully added your courses.
