What is Wellness?

Wellness is an active process that allows people to make positive choices in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It includes a positive approach to life and health that helps to maximize the individual's potential. Wellness is the understanding and integration of the relationship of mind, body and spirit into one's philosophy of living. A personal wellness lifestyle is associated with good physical health, emotional and spiritual stability, improved personal relationships, as well as increased career satisfaction.

Wellness can be thought of as existing along a continuum from illness to wellness. Therefore, being well is more than simply being disease free. Being well suggests optimal health, aliveness, and energy as well as a profound sense of well-being.
