Founded in 1998, the Gaels Dancers function as an entertainment group that prepares dance routines for performances at Iona’s sporting and social events. The Gael Dancers consist of 20 talented dancers with various dance backgrounds. The team performs at all home games for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as other events on campus including Maroon Madness, Homecoming and Home for the Holidays. At the end of basketball season in March, the Dance Team members travel with the basketball teams to the MAAC tournament. The dance team practices three times a week, perfecting dance routines with their coach and captains. The dance routines consist of jazz, hip-hop, pom and kickline. The members also dedicate time by participating in service projects.
