Nearly 1,000 Graduates March at Commencement

Nearly 1,000 students earning bachelor's and master's degrees participated in Iona College's 74th Annual commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 19, in the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Among the speakers at the morning undergraduate ceremony were student government President Erin Kutch '18 and Jillian Mitchell '18. U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer of New York also greeted the Class of 2018.

Nancy Lublin, social media entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Crisis Text Line and CEO of DoSomething.org gave keynote remarks for the morning ceremonies that included about 654 graduating seniors and a full house of family and friends.

Afternoon speakers included new master's degree recipients Joseph Carlo and Lisa Alexander. Kate Snow, anchor of "NBC Nightly News" on Sundays and award-winning senior national correspondent for NBC News, was the keynote speaker in the afternoon ceremony.

Lublin, Snow and Jeremiah M. Callaghan '65 received honorary doctorates of Humane Letters.
