The Ionian is Iona College’s official student-run newspaper. The writers and editors work diligently to make sure that news around campus is covered accurately and thoroughly. The staff produces a 16-page publication that hits newsstands every two weeks during the school year. The paper comes out seven times every semester. Each issue of the Ionian consists of the following sections: news, sports, features, arts & entertainment, and opinion.
An Award-Winning Publication
The Ionian has garnered national recognition for its exceptional writing and reporting. The paper won First Place for Colleges/Universities with more than 2,501 students from the American Scholastic Press Association.
Editor-in-Chief Ian Sacks ’16 was a finalist at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards for his sports columns.
General staff meetings are held throughout the semester and are open to anyone. Every editorial board member also has weekly office hours, during which people can stop in.
The Ionian is always eager for new writers, photographers, and anyone else interested in helping to produce a newspaper.
