Nearly 1,000 new graduates participated in Iona College's 70th commencement ceremonies for undergraduates and master’s students on May 17, 2014, in the Theater of Madison Square Garden.
This year’s undergraduate commencement keynote speaker was the Archbishop of New York, His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, who also received an honorary doctorate for public service. Joseph Hankin, Ph.D., retiring after 42 years of service as Westchester Community College President, also received an honorary doctorate in education.
The Graduate commencement featured speaker was world-renowned poet and Iona alumnus Terence Winch ′67. Winch was presented with an honorary doctorate of humane letters for his numerous works that are included in more than 30 anthologies -- among them The Oxford Book of American Poetry and four Best American Poetry collections.
