Ripp Family ’68 Endowed Scholarship
Purpose
The Ripp Family ’68 Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 by Peter J. Ripp ’68 to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students at Iona University.
Ripp Family Scholar Emily Healy ’26 said, “Receiving this scholarship means the world to me. I pay for college almost entirely by myself, and thanks to you and your generosity, a lot of the worry and stress has been lifted off my shoulders. Because of you, I’ve been able to make the most of my educational experiences and take advantage of everything that the University has to offer. Thank you for making all of this possible for me.”
In addition to the scholarship, a generous endowment gift from Peter is supporting the Iona University-University College Dublin (UCD) Challenge Cup. The annual Challenge Cup brings together student-athletes, as well as alumni and donors from the two schools who face off in match-play competitions over three days at three different golf courses. Locations for the matches alternate between New York and Ireland each year.
Peter has been giving to Iona for more than 30 years, supporting the Men’s Golf Team, the Fund for Iona, and other University initiatives. He is a member of Iona’s Loyal Gaels Society.
Peter retired as chief operating officer for NIC Holding Corp., a petroleum services and trading company, and currently serves on the board of trustees at Iona University. In addition, he is the lead board director at Petroterminal de Panama. He has a degree in economics from Iona University and received an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
