History
Stephen Powers graduated with honors in computer science from Iona College in 1987. After graduation, he joined the family business, Powers Fasteners, transforming its IT department by writing software that integrated operations across eight overseas companies.
He managed all nine international operations. Stephen enjoyed boating, golfing, and skiing, and had a deep love for animals. He married his high school sweetheart, Christina, and they had two daughters, Alexis and Sydney. A devoted family man, he spent every free moment with his family, often traveling the world with them. They lived in Greenwich, Connecticut, where Stephen believed "family comes first and the business is there to serve the family."
Stephen passed away in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of business achievements and a profound dedication to his family. A generous contribution from the Estate of Virginia Powers, in loving memory of her son, Stephen, is supporting the Computer Science Department of Iona University.
