Con Edison STEM Endowed Scholarship
Purpose
Established in 2016 as part of Con Edison’s program to honor students with outstanding academic achievements, the Con Edison STEM Endowed Scholarship supports undergraduate students at Iona University who are majoring in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
History
Consolidated Edison, Inc., began in 1823 as the New York Gas Light Co., evolving from providing gas lighting for streets to becoming one of the largest U.S. energy companies, supplying energy to millions of people in the region. Over time, the company merged with other energy companies, including those related to Thomas Edison.
In 2023, the company celebrated its 200th anniversary.
In 2016, ConEd established this scholarship to support undergraduate students at Iona in the field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM disciplines).
