Lucretia and Ed Mann

Purpose

The Lucretia Stanco Mann and Edward T. Mann Endowed Scholarship was established in 2002 by Iona University graduates Lucretia Stanco Mann BBA’76 MBA’78 & Edward T. Mann BBA’73, MBA’74. Their scholarship’s intent is to provide deserving students with financial support to advance their academic careers and earn an Iona University education giving preference to students with learning differences and financial need. History

Lucretia and Edward are loyal and sustaining benefactors of the University’s fundraising efforts since their graduation. The Manns have invested in the future of Iona by supporting “Vision into Reality” and “Visions of Excellence” capital campaigns, the Hagan School of Business Trading Floor initiative, the Annual Fund, Goal Club and established this endowed student scholarship. They are members of the Iona President’s Circle, Ginko Society and Cornerstone Members of the Doorley Society.

Both Lucretia and Edward distinguished themselves while students at Iona. Lucretia was a member of the Iona Singers, Officer and Treasurer of the Accounting Honor Society and Accounting Club, Chapter President of Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society, and recipient of the Roth Memorial Award for Excellence in Business Administration and the New York State Society of CPAs Award for Excellence in Accounting Studies. Ed was elected to the Academic Senate, Treasurer of the Social Bureau, a member of the Accounting Honor Society, and Delta Mu Delta.

Lucretia and Edward were awarded the Brother William B. Cornelia Founders Award for Outstanding Service to the College in 2008. Edward was presented with the Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award in 1998 for Outstanding Achievement in Finance, the Brother Patrick B. Doyle Award in 2012 for Distinguished Service to the Iona College Alumni Association and the Brother John G. Driscoll Award in 2023 for Humanitarian Service in recognition of his long-term dedication to Iona University’s Alumni Association through the Nominating Committee and Board service.

Edward and Lucretia both had distinguished professional careers. Upon graduation, both pursued careers in public accounting with the firms of Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen, respectively. Both are Certified Public Accountants. Lucretia’s career path led her to Mercy University where she was a Tenured Professor of Accounting, served as Chairperson of the Graduate and Undergraduate Accounting Programs, Dean of the School of Business, and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. She was acknowledged for her outstanding role as an educator as the recipient of the Sister Gratia Maher Excellence in Teaching Award, the Phi Sigma Honor Society Teaching Award, and a Masters of Pedagogy honoris causa. Edward spent most of his career with the San Francisco based conglomerate Transamerica Corporation where he served as a Senior Executive Officer (Executive Vice President & Treasurer, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer) of its domestic and international tax services, commercial, consumer, leasing and transportation finance businesses and as Transamerica Leasing’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of its Board of Directors.

Both Lucretia and Edward believe that the excellent education they received in their undergraduate and graduate business programs at Iona prepared them for professional success and lives dedicated to serving others. Iona is more than a university they attended, to them, it is family.
