The Sigma Delta Phi Alumni Scholarship

History

Founded in 1967, Sigma Delta Phi was the first fraternity at Iona, and while the fraternity is no longer active, many members have answered the call to help Iona students through their new scholarship.

The University received more than $100,000 in gifts and pledges for the scholarship, and the generous response of more than 75 brothers helped to secure a $50,000 challenge gift from Ron DeFeo ’74, ‘13H, a current member of the Iona University Board of Trustees and former Sigma Delta Phi fraternity president.

Sigma Delta Phi at 2023 Greek Reunion

This initiative not only honors the fraternity’s rich history, but also reinforces the lifelong bonds of brotherhood and service that Sigma Delta Phi instilled in its members. Through this scholarship, the fraternity's legacy will continue to support future generations of Gaels in their pursuit of excellence.
