History
Stephen V. Reitano earned his Bachelor's in Economics and MBA in Finance and Administration from Iona University before beginning his career with the New York State Comptroller's office in 1975. Over four years, he advanced from Special Assistant to First Assistant Inspector General, managing a 35-member audit division.
In 1981, Stephen joined Westchester County government, spending fourteen years rising through the finance department. He served as Commissioner of Finance from 1992 to 1995, managing $1.1 billion in county funds and maintaining the county's triple-A bond rating.
Stephen joined the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in 1995 as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing fiscal operations for the organization's $6.5 billion budget and 65,000 employees. He founded First Mutual Transportation Assurance Company in 1997, creating New York State's first successful insurance captive.
The late 1990s and early 2000s brought a series of executive positions in telecommunications and security systems. At AboveNet, Stephen coordinated rights-of-way agreements in 67 cities across the U.S. and Europe. He also held CEO and presidential roles at ANTAR-COM and Diebold Enterprise Security Systems.
In 2000, Stephen founded Sprague Associates LLC, consulting on commercial and residential property development in New York City. He has since built a comprehensive real estate practice as a licensed agent with SCOTTPARKS INTERNATIONAL REALTY, a licensed mortgage loan originator with Quintessential Mortgage Group, and since 2022, a sales associate with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in Alexandria, Virginia.
He currently serves as a member of the Iona University Board of Trustees.
