Student Handbook

The Student Handbook contains many of the policies and procedures for which all students are responsible. In addition, this handbook contains information about a number of the services and resources which are available to students.

As a student at Iona University, you are expected to know and abide by all University regulations as outlined in the Student Handbook and other locations.

“Events of Force Majeure” shall be defined as follows: any act, event, or circumstance, beyond the reasonable control of either party and unavoidable despite the exercise of reasonable diligence, that renders performance of any obligation of this agreement impossible, or so substantially increases the costs of compliance such that the value of this agreement is materially diminished or its purpose materially frustrated beyond the reasonable contemplation of either party without limitation, the following actual or threatened events and their attendant consequences, so long as otherwise satisfying the foregoing definition: strikes, labor unrest, terrorism, civil disturbance or riots, military actions or movements, fires, acts of God, natural disasters, such as earthquakes, or floods,  wars, riots, crimes, pandemic, epidemic, viral outbreak, public health crisis, disease, quarantine restrictions, stay-at-home or shelter-in-place or equivalent orders, government restrictions on travel, movement, or public gatherings, public health government restrictions, acts of government or any federal, state, local, public or administrative authority, unavailability or obsolescence of parts, or materials, electrical, internet, wireless or computer network, server or telecommunications outages.

Should a "Force Majeure" event occur the University assumes no responsibility or liability for any delay or failure to provide some or all academic or other campus activities or for any modification to instruction or institutional offerings due to any force majeure event, or any other cause like or unlike any cause herein mentioned, which is beyond the control or authority of Iona University and either makes performance of the policies and protocols set forth herein illegal, impractical, and/or in the reasonable judgment of Iona, threatens the safety and wellness of its students, employees and/or community members. A "Force Majeure" event which may cause the University to shift the method or modality of class delivery, may not shift or relieve a student's financial responsibility and obligations to Iona University.

The administration of the University reserves the right to amend policies and procedures or edit at any time.

The Iona University Student Handbook serves as an agreement between the University and students to honor the standards, policies and procedures set forth in the Student Handbook. By accepting to attend Iona University, a student is committed to understanding and abiding by these standards, as well as accepting responsibility for their actions. These policies have been established to provide a safe and comfortable community for all Iona University community members.
