What to Expect from an Advising Appointment

Students and advisors each play an important role in ensuring degree completion.

It is important that students show up/attend advising appointments well prepared. Please look at the below information to make sure the advising appointment runs productively.

Student Responsibilities

  • Be prepared and on time for appointments, make sure you are on a laptop if attending remotely
  • Review Degree Audit and prepare questions you may have about classes
  • Discuss all, good or bad, academic matters with your advisor to ensure the best result
  • Review emails sent from advisors before AND after the meeting 

What you can expect from your ADVISOR 

  • Work to empower students to see a path to degree completion, career options, and academic success
  • Assist and instruct students on the understanding of university policy, procedures, and academic deadlines
  • Refer students to the appropriate on-campus resources when applicable
