Alumni Mission Immersion Trip

 


Iona in Mission will once again be partnering with the Edmund Rice Justice Desk of South Central Africa to offer an exciting immersion experience for young alumni in Cape Town, South Africa. The tentative dates are March 4-17, 2018.
                
Highlights of the Immersion:
  • Experience a passionate community of young adults living the Edmund Rice charism and working for justice.
  • Service projects with:
    • township communities living in extreme poverty,
    • the Umoya Project celebrating people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,
    • schools, orphanage and other community partners and non-governmental organizations.
  • Shadowing day with South Africans in your profession.
  • Human rights and advocacy training workshops.
  • Daily reflections at our beautiful accommodations at the Christian Brothers’ Eco-Spirituality Center.
  • Cultural immersion activities:
    • Robben Island tour and reflection,
    • Cape Town sites, restaurants and wine tasting,
    • Game park visit.
Estimated cost: $2,700
  • Price includes airfare estimate, room and board, meals, transportation and most in-country costs.
  • Price excludes any vaccinations or travel medicines and passport fees.
  • There are no required vaccinations, but Hepatitis A and/or Typhoid are recommended.
