Vacancy: Currently 2 staff vacancies

The meeting began at approximately 1:05 p.m.

President Carey joined meeting to provide updates amid Coronavirus closure. Events have been canceled or postponed, budget has been impacted, but hopefully will be minimal impact. Endowment is healthy. Enrollment team has moved to online. Fall enrollment is concerning. Coach Cluess has stepped down as men’s basketball coach and Rick Pitino has joined Iona. Some of the negative news surrounding him is true, but he is a positive move for Iona University; notoriety will help with enrollment figures and there will be no fallout from hiring him. Regarding budget, we will assess first and take steps that we can, turn off construction projects, delay hiring, etc.

Updates from Different Departments:

Freshman advising is scheduled for April 27; students are doing okay.
MarCom is holding daily Zoom meetings.
Help Desk is still taking calls to assist campus with IT issues.
Athletics is focused on making sure student-athletes are adjusting to distance learning.
Facilities is still on campus. If offices are physically being used, let them know so they can come in to clean.

HR&C Update

insurance renewals will be 3.4% for medical and 5% decrease for vision, dental will remain the same; holiday is predicted this year.

Discussion of difficulty of working from home and different methods of communicating, Zoom, Slack, etc.

New Business/Action Item

Need committee for Br. Bray Awards (3-5 people); goal is to stay on same timeline.
