  • Mac Instructions

    Mac ClearPass Instructions

    1. Click on the airport (Wi-Fi) icon
      Click on the airport icon (top right corner), wireless Connect to IonaCollegeStudentWireless.
    2. Open Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome
      Go to www.iona.edu you will be taken to a log-in page.
    3. Sign-In
      Enter your computer ID and computer password.
      Check the Accept Terms box and click 'Login'.

    U Drive for Mac

    1. Go to wireless.iona.edu and check the Navigational Menu STUDENT U:DRIVE.
    2. In the STUDENT U:DRIVE menu, select appropriate Operating System (Mac) and version of the U: Drive to download (U Drive v.1 for @iona.edu students) or (U Drive v.2 for @gaels.iona.edu students).
    3. Click Finder Finder and go to your Downloads Folder.
    4. Open the udrive.zip file to display the U: Drive icon UDrive.
    5. Click & Hold on the U Drive Icon UDrive in your Downloads Folder.
    6. Drag the U Drive Icon UDrive to your Dock (The bar on the bottom or side of your desktop).
    7. Double click the U Drive Icon UDrive to Run.
    8. You may receive a prompt about your security settings not allowing U Drive to open.
    9. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Click on Open Anyway.
    10. Enter your Iona College computer ID username (e.g. jsmith1).
    11. When prompted for a password enter your Iona College password.
    12. Finder will open a window with a folder to your U Drive.
    13. You can double click the U Drive Icon UDrive in your Dock again to bring you to your U Drive folder as long as you haven’t disconnected from it. If you’ve disconnected it will prompt you for your username and password again.

    How to Remove Cybergate Agent (Returning Students)

    Iona College no longer uses Cybergate Agent. It will not harm your computer if left on but if you want to remove it follow the instructions below.
    1. Locate the Cybergate Agent icon Cybergate Agent on your Dock.
    2. Click & hold the icon and drag it off your Dock.
    3. Click Finder Finder and go to the Applications Folder.
    4. Locate the Cybergate Agent icon Cybergate Agent in your Applications Folder.
    5. Click & hold the icon and drag it to your Trash Can.

  • Windows Vista/7 Instructions

    Connect to Wireless

    1. Click on the Wireless icon located on the bottom right of the Taskbar wireless.
    2. Connect to IonaCollegeStudentWireless.
    3. Check Connect Automatically and click 'Connect'.
    4. Open a Web Browser. If the Web Browser doesn’t automatically redirect you to the Iona login page, go to www.iona.edu you will be taken there.
    5. Enter your Iona College computer ID and password (eg. jsmith1) Check the Accept Terms box and click 'Login'.

    Install ClearPass OnGuard

    1. Click the 'Click Here' Clearpass OnGuard link to start the download.
    2. If given the option, choose Save to save the file and go to your download folder after it’s complete.
    3. Double click ClearPassOnGuardInstall.exe to begin the installation.
    4. Click Yes > OK > Next > check the Accept Terms box and click Install > Finish.
    5. Restart the computer.
    6. Double click the ClearPass Icon located at the bottom right of your desktop to open it. If ClearPass is red click the remediation URL link within it. If ClearPass is green your machine has internet access.
    If you’re running AVG, Kaspersky, Norton, Mcafee or Microsoft Security Essentials with the latest Virus Definitions ClearPass will grant you access to the internet. If you don’t have any of these you can download Microsoft Security Essentials for free using the instructions below.

    ClearPass OnGuard Status

    Clearpass Status
    • Healthy Status: Your computer meets the requirements to access Iona’s wireless.
    • Quarantined: Your computer can’t connect to Iona’s wireless until you fix the error listed.
      This happens when your computer has no anti-virus, the anti-virus is turned off or the anti-virus definitions are older than 14 days. You can fix this by visiting the remediation URL link on ClearPass.

    Install Microsoft Security Essentials (If you have NO Anti-Virus)

    1. On the remediation website ( wireless.iona.edu ) in the navigational menu under MS ESSENTIALS.
    2. Click the link to begin the download, afterward run the file to begin the installation.
    3. Proceed through the installation of Security Essentials and once finished go to the next step.

    Update Virus Definitions (If your virus definitions are out of date)

    1. On the remediation website ( wireless.iona.edu ) in the navigational menu under ANTI-VIRUS UPDATES.
    2. Click the link to the corresponding Anti-Virus product to download the virus definitions.
    3. Refer to the Remediation page on how to use the virus definition package you’ve downloaded.
    4. Your virus definitions are now up-to-date.

    Map Your Student Network Drive (The U: Drive)

    1. Go to wireless.iona.edu.
    2. In the STUDENT U: DRIVE menu, select the appropriate operating system (Windows) and version of the U: Drive to download (U Drive v.1 for @iona.edu students) or (U Drive v.2 for @gaels.iona.edu students).
    3. Go to your download folder and double click the U Drive file UDrive to open it.
    4. Enter your Iona College computer ID and password in the required fields. Student Drive Login
    5. You will receive a message that your U: Drive was successfully mapped.
    6. You can find your U Drive by clicking folder icon Folder on your windows taskbar (bottom of the screen) and looking for your Iona username (eg.aviola) under the computer icon on the left of the window.

  • Windows 8/8.1/10 Instructions

    Connect to Wireless

    1. For Windows 8/8.1 users, click on the desktop tile, or press the Windows key button to bring up your desktop.
      For Windows 10 users, your desktop will load up automatically.
    2. Click on the wireless icon located on the bottom right of the taskbarWireless.
    3. Connect to IonaCollegeStudentWireless.
    4. Check Connect Automatically > Click Connect.
    5. Open a web browser. If the web browser doesn’t automatically redirect you to the Iona log-in page, go to www.iona.edu you will be taken there.

    4. Click Yes > OK > Next > Check the Accept Terms box and click Install > Finish.

    ClearPass will grant you access to the wireless network if the following anti-virus software is installed with an active subscription and are up to date: AVG (free), Kaspersky (subscription), Norton (subscription) or Mcafee (subscription). If you don’t have any of these programs and/or you don’t want to renew your subscriptions you can turn on Windows Defender (free) and download the latest virus definitions from wireless.iona.edu.

    1. Go to wireless.iona.edu.
    2. On the top navigational menu put your mouse pointer over STUDENT U:DRIVE and click which is suited for you.
    3. Go to your download folder and double click the U Drive file UDrive to open it.
    4. Enter your Iona College computer ID and password in the required fields.UDrive Login
    5. You will receive a message that your U: Drive was successfully mapped.
    6. You can find your U Drive by clicking folder icon Folder on your windows taskbar (bottom of the screen).
    7. Look for your Iona Username under the computer Icon on the left of the window. My Computer

    Did your subscription to Norton, McAfee or Kaspersky expire or do you need to activate
    Windows Defender?

    If your subscription expired and you don’t plan on renewing, Windows 8/8.1/10 comes with a built in anti-virus called Windows Defender. To turn Windows Defender you must remove all other anti-virus programs.
    1. Press Windows Key + X to and select Programs and Features from the list.
    2. Look through the list until you find the anti-virus program you want to uninstall (eg.Norton).
    3. Click on the anti-virus name in the list, highlight and select uninstall.
    4. After the uninstall is complete restart your computer. Windows Defender should be active when your computer turns on.

  • Tablet/Phone Instructions

    Due to the large number of cell phone vendors and models on the market Iona College does not offer cell phone support. For issues/problems with Iona College email on your cell phone, please contact your cell phone vendor.

    iPhone & iPad

    1. Go to your Settings.
    2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    3. Select “Add Account”.
    4. Choose Microsoft Exchange.
    5. Fill in your basic information (Email Address, Password…).
    6. Press the 'Next' button on the top right of the screen when you’re finished and wait for the information to verify. If everything is okay you should receive checkmarks.
    7. Decide which feature you would like to have enable.
    8. Press Save.
    If asked for server information
    • Make sure the following fields are correct:
      Email – your-email@iona.edu OR your-email@gaels.iona.edu (if you’re a student)
      Server – outlook.office365.com
      Domain – iona.edu
      Username – your-email@iona.edu OR your-email@gaels.iona.edu (if you’re a student)
      Password – your email password
    • If asked “Do you want to try and setup without SSL” select NO (This usually means the username and/or password used is incorrect. Please verify that your email password is working by trying to use it to log in directly to your Iona email which is located on Iona’s Website in the Quick links, Online Services).
    IMPORTANT: If the setup gives an error regarding your username or password please verify that your password is correct by logging into the account on a computer.

    Android (Devices may differ)

    • Go to your Settings.
    • Go Accounts.
    • Add Account.
    • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Corporate.
    • Select Manual Setup and fill out the account information:
      Email Address – your-email@.iona.edu OR your-email@gaels.iona.edu (if you’re a student)
      Server Address – outlook.office365.com
      Domain\Username - iona.edu\your-email@iona.edu OR iona.edu\your-email@gaels.iona.edu (if you’re a student)
      Password – your email password
    • Press NEXT.
    • When ask to Activate, press the 'Activate' button.
    • Change your ActiveSync preferences to your liking and press NEXT.
    • Name your account and select Finish Setup.
    IMPORTANT: Your domain and username fields may show up in separate or in a combined field.
