My Iona

College Courses Taken While in High School

If you have taken college-level courses that are affiliated with a two- or four-year college or university while you are in high school, we want to make sure you receive the proper credit, if applicable! Be sure to inform your Admissions Counselor.

All new freshmen or transfer students may receive college credit for courses taught through an accredited college program and if a grade of C or higher is earned and the course is in a related topic or approved content area, to be determined after a student has been admitted and is deposited with Iona for the coming semester.  We are unable to provide course evaluations prior to admission and deposit, or prior to a student’s planned advisement for their first enrollment term at Iona.  Students can not earn credit for the same course twice.

All courses will be evaluated for usefulness in an Iona degree and will be added to the official Iona record as appropriate once official transcripts have been received and evaluated.  Please note, a final academic record will have no pending grades, no ungraded courses, and no current enrollment of any kind

Getting Your Coursework Evaluated

  • Once your final grade(s) for the course(s) post to the official record of the college or university sponsoring the course in question, request a final official transcript from the college overseeing the course. We recommend that students use the electronic/digital option for directing transcripts to Iona University, as a means of tracking when the document has been sent and opened.  If you are sending hard copy, Transcripts may be mailed to:

    Iona University Undergraduate Admissions
    715 North Avenue
    New Rochelle, New York 10801

Have handy the official course description for the course – found online in the University Catalog or Registrar’s page or keep a copy of your Course Syllabus – for Advisement purposes.
  • During your first advisement meeting with your assigned advisor in the Center for Advising, we will discuss exactly how your coursework will be applied to your Iona degree.

This information may change as you declare your major or may be dependent upon an evaluation by your major department.
