My Iona

Sound Duplication Policy

Iona University prohibits the use of tape recorders and all other devices by students to record class lectures unless they have the express consent of the professor. Students who have the express consent of a professor to record a class must make their own arrangements to record the class. Iona University Media Services is not available to record classes for individual students. Students may borrow audio cassette recorders from Iona at no charge. Students must arrange for the pick-up and return of the audio cassette recorders. Permission to record a class applies exclusively to the student who received permission from the professor. The recording may not be accessed or utilized by any other individual. No replication of the recording may be made without the express permission of the professor. Any professor may make any changes to the procedure regarding the recording of his or her own classes.

Students who are requesting recording of classes under the Americans with Disabilities Act must contact the Director of Academic Support, Marissa Sannella in the Samuel Rudin Academic Resource Center. Classes may be recorded only in cases of a documented disability (for which class recording is an approved accommodation).

In accordance with the above policy, all members of the community must be informed and made aware that any class, and discussions held therein, or any conversations with members of the faculty, staff or administration are subject to being recorded.
