Foster 21st Century Innovation through a New School of Business Building

LaPenta School of Business [Building]

A $15-million lead gift, plus a $2.5-million challenge grant, from Board of Trustee member Robert V. LaPenta ’67, ’00H, has bolstered efforts to create a new home for the Iona School of Business.

Fundraising and planning continue for this project, which envisions renovating and expanding Hagan Hall to more than double the current space for students and faculty, to create a world-class learning environment for innovative and ethical business leaders.

In Iona’s School of Business, future business leaders engage in both theoretical study and hands-on practice. Its students develop high ethical standards and an awareness of the global character of business. After graduation they are recruited by local and global corporations, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies in the New York metropolitan area and beyond.

To support all aspects of an interactive, technologically advanced curriculum, Iona’s new business school facility will include:
State-of-the-art “smart” classrooms

  • An expanded LaPenta-Lynch Trading Floor classroom
  • Dedicated rooms for case study and small-group discussion
  • A business development incubator
  • Quiet study space
  • A business-focused career center
  • Student lounge areas
  • Integrated faculty, staff and administrative offices

With an array of focus areas for undergraduate degrees, MBAs and professional business certificates, Iona offers a business education that responds to changing operational needs and evolving management challenges. The Iona School of Business has been ranked in the top 50 “Graduate Schools for Salary Potential” and holds the prestigious AACSB International accreditation.
