Residential Life Staff

The Office of Residential Life staff is composed of full-time live-in professionals and 35 student resident assistants. Our staff is committed to providing students with a quality residential life experience while promoting personal and academic excellence.

Colin fell in love with Residential Life during his time at Central Connecticut State University. As a first-generation college student, he discovered Student Affairs and Residence Life as a career path and knew instantly that’s what he wanted to do. Colin earned his BA in Science for Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics and immediately started working as a Residence Hall Director at Mount Saint Mary College where he also received his MBA. Colin has over 10 years of experience working in Residential Life and serves as a board member of the Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers (NEACUHO). Outside of work Colin enjoys spending time with friends and family, dabbling in photography, playing video games, and trying to keep up with his two young sons.

Becca has been a dedicated member of the Iona University team since May 2021. She received her BA in Psychology from Kean University in Union, N.J. and her Master's in Higher Education and Student Affairs from West Chester University. She is originally from Howell, New Jersey. Becca deeply cherishes spending time with her seven nieces and nephews, and she enjoys the company of her dog, Benson. She is passionate about guiding students through their college journeys and helping them make the most of their experience.

Claudia Marcelin is a dual Iona alumna and recently received her MBA. With a passion for student affairs that began during her time as a student leader. A local to New Rochelle, she enjoys reading, taking walks with friends, and escaping for a relaxing weekend trip. Claudia is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging residential environment for all students and hopes to pursue a professional career focused on Human Resource and Student Development.

Haley Serrano is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where she worked as a Resident Assistant for 3 years. Through ResLife, she found her voice and passion for student affairs, by assisting students and engaging with her campus community through programming and building meaningful connections. Haley’s goal is to make sure that students are in a space where they are comfortable to grow and learn in order to reach their goals, and have the opportunity to find their voice and passion on Iona’s campus. As a true Connecticut native, Haley loves the outdoors and hiking in the warm weather. She also enjoys listening to music, reading, and plans to travel around the world some day!

Jonathan has been a Res Life professional for the last 5 years. He received a BA in English from Gardner-Webb University and subsequently an MA in Higher Education from Wagner College. Jonathan is from North Carolina but has made New York home. He enjoys trying new restaurants in the city, spending time with friends, video games, and making music. Jonathan cares deeply about advocating for the student experience and fostering an environment of growth and understanding.

Samantha is an Iona alumna with a Master’s in Public Relations and a background in communications. As a Residence Hall Director, she believes that the best communities are built one relationship at a time. She loves finding creative ways to bring people together and make campus feel a little more like home. Whether she’s planning an event, checking in with a resident, or having a random hallway conversation, she’s always looking for ways to make students feel seen and supported. Her biggest hope for Loftus? That you find your people, make some great memories, and leave with a few stories you’ll still be telling years from now.

Gabriella was born and raised in Queens, NY, but recently earned her master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University at Buffalo. As the RHD of Bohm, she oversees the hall’s operations and supports various residential needs throughout the year. Gabriella is thrilled to not only help students feel at home within their communities but help them feel empowered as individuals.  Outside of working with students, her passions include traveling, esthetics, and cooking.

Sabrina started her Residential Life career as a Residential Assistant in January 2024. She received her History BA at Iona University in December 2025 and is currently an MST candidate, expected to graduate in July 2025. She is from Cortlandt Manor, NY, but has spent the last 5 years between New Rochelle and Bronxville. Sabrina hopes to expand her experience and turn Higher Education into a lifelong career.

Sophia Notarianni-Smith is from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Hawai'i and grew up all over Europe: Italy, Romania, the Netherlands, and Belgium, to name a few. She attended the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) and graduated with her Bachelor's in Communications with a minor in Human Resources. She moved to New Rochelle with her husband shortly after, and is currently getting her MBA at Iona. She loves dogs, baking and reading.

Resident Assistants

Each resident is assigned a resident assistant who has been trained to be a campus resource and is available to answer questions about campus and living in the residence halls.

Resident assistants are supervised by a master's-level residence hall director.
