Faculty Senate Minutes, February 23, 2023

D. DeFino called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.  Quorum was met.

Announcements

Student initiated submissions deadline for Scholars Day ends on 02-24-23.  Contact B. Gaines for further information.

The Senate discussed the last Executive Committee meeting which focused on the Follett contract.

Discussion Item: Spring Survey

D. DeFino distributed the last Senate Faculty Survey and asked senators to review for any needed changes.

Discussion Item: Spring Elections

D. Defino discussed the 2023-24 vacancies on the Senate, Budget, CAA, HR&C, Appointed Governance, and Appointed Non-Governance committees.  Since both D. Defino and D. Brophy will be termed out as Chair and Secretary of the Senate, nominations for these positions will be needed.
The Senate Constitution was amended and approved two years ago to lower the number of Senators.  Full faculty have to approve this change.  The Senate has no objections.

Action Item: Valedictorian/Faculty Speaker of the Year Working Group

The Senate voted unanimously to approve the final slate of appointees:

AT LARGE NOMINEES (three slots):
Diedra Brown (Assoc. Dir. Of Nursing, SHS)

Tyron Pope (Clinical, CRJ/SOC, A&S)

FS NOMINEES (two slots):
Michelle Veyvoda (Assoc. Prof, CSD, SHS)
Casey Dougherty

There being no other business, D. DeFino adjourned the Faculty Senate meeting at 5:11 p.m.  The next Senate meeting will be held via Zoom on 03/30/2023 at 3:30 p.m.
