Faculty Senate Minutes, March 30, 2023

D. DeFino called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.  Quorum was met.

Announcements: None

Guest:  SGA President, A. Connolly discussed the importance of informing students who are serving on committees of the committee’s responsibilities.  He also talked about keeping an open communication with faculty.

Guests: Representatives of the Committee on Diversity and Anti-Racism Teaching and Learning Circle: A. Aggarwal, M. Alvia, L. Magliulo, J. Perry, J. Quintong
Discussion of the role and lack of resources accorded to the Interim Associate Provost for Diversity.  Suggestions made regarding staffing and resources for a person in this role.  A Cabinet level position would be urged along with someone with experience in this field.

Discussion Item: Course Text Survey

D. DeFino will send the survey results to senior administrators and inform them that the survey will be sent to the faculty.  D. Defino will check with A. Connolly to suggest a student survey regarding the Follett deal.

Discussion Item: Revised Committee Recommendations

The Senate agreed to remove combining Enrollment Management with Advancement.  The Senate also agree to a minimum number of members for each school and if no volunteers, the seats can be filled by faculty from any school.

Discussion of cross listed graduate/undergraduate courses and Gaels 360

There being no other business, D. DeFino adjourned the Faculty Senate meeting at 5:27 p.m.  The next Senate meeting will be held in person 04/27/2023 at 3:30 p.m.
