Blood Donation

Staff and administrators are permitted to take one three-hour unpaid leave of absence per calendar year for the purpose of off-premises blood donation. Staff and administrators wishing to use this leave time should notify their direct supervisor, as well as the Office for Human Resources, at least three (3) working days prior to the intended leave. For positions requiring coverage, Staff and administrators should provide notice at least ten (10) working days prior to the intended leave. Should the donation be in connection to an emergency (i.e., blood donation for staff or administrators’ surgery or that of a family member), accommodations for a shorter notice period will be allowed. As a condition of approving the leave, the Office of Human Resources may require the staff and administrators to provide documentation verifying the donation.
