Dr. Suen’s research interests include animal philosophy, ethics, and feminist philosophy.  In her research, she finds herself repeatedly drawn to the connections between language and ethics.  For example, how can we responsibly speak for those who can’t speak for themselves?  How does our conception of language shape our ethical relationships with others?  Dr. Suen’s dissertation addresses issues of representation in animal advocacy.  She is currently working on a project on the ethics of consumption.
