What Iona Offers
On the path to a successful career, we have the avenues to get ahead.
Meet with Career Services
Beginning their freshman year, Iona students meet with career services at least 1-2 times per year. Counselors provide personalized guidance and actionable support, including:
- Resume Reviews
- Job and internship search assistance
- Practice interviews
- Identify internship opportunities
Professors with Experience
Iona professors include working professionals and those who have chosen to make the classroom their new office. They make time to meet with students one-on-one to talk about their experience and offer introductions and connections in their fields. They also regularly lead experiential learning trips that give students direct contact with experts across industries.
AI Tools for Career Development
Iona is proud to offer our students the latest in career development technologies. Students can now take advantage of Quinncia, a resume building tool that optimizes an applicant’s chances of landing an offer, and StandOut, which enables students to conduct mock interviews and gain instantaneous feedback and personalized tips for improvement.
Fall and Spring Career Fairs
Our Career Development team organizes two career fairs each year. Employers from throughout the region meet with our students about employment and internship opportunities.
Prior to the each career fair, each student is encouraged to meet with a career counselor to prep. This includes a resume review, practice interview and more.
Mentoring Programs
When it comes to job opportunities, your prospects only grow stronger with the right network. Iona offers a variety or mentoring programs, including Gaels Go Further, which pairs students to alumni mentors. These mentors not only give students guidance as they enter into the professional world, but can also offer introductions to contacts throughout their industry.
On-Site Visits
While we bring speakers, mentors and opportunities to campus, there's nothing quite like the inspiration an on-site visit can foster. Iona students regularly visit notable companies such as Mastercard, Morgan Stanley, and Google, to name a few, where they can learn directly what work-life is like at some of the world's largest employers.
Lectures, Panels & Seminars
Iona's campuses regularly attract alumni and notable figures from a variety of industries who present on everything from the latest in artificial intelligence to challenges present in the healthcare industry. All students, regardless of their major, are encouraged to attend, interact and network at these events.
Dedicated Advisors
Our career and academic advisors know that true student success goes beyond simply earning credits toward a degree. In addition to helping students select the right courses, advisors take time to discuss student career plans, recommend extracurricular activities that strengthen resumes, and suggest enriching opportunities such as study abroad programs and more.
Free Professional Headshot
Your TikTok profile picture - although really cool - just won't cut it in the professional world. We get it! That's why we offer free professional headshots to students throughout the year. Like all of these resources, this is available beginning freshman year.
A Focus on Student Success
The entire Iona community is focused on student success. This means developing well-rounded students able to think deeply and engage with the challenges they will encounter during their careers. Our alumni base is made up of leaders across industries, a testament to the enduring strength of an Iona education.

MST, Class of 2026
Kaitlyn Incandela has the ambition and drive to make real change in the world, and Iona is helping her achieve those goals.
“I chose to attend Iona because I appreciated the smaller class sizes, which allowed me to build meaningful relationships with my professors. [My] professors helped me explore the various career opportunities available with my degrees, including pursuing graduate school programs in the future.”
Getting Work experience
It's never too early to create a resume that will impress.
Working On Campus
You don't need to declare your major in order to gain professional experience - you can start now! Whether you are helping with marketing, residential life, athletics or in another area, an on-campus job or internship at Iona allows you to explore your interests, make connections and develop professional relationships.
Professional Placements
At Iona, we have deep ties to organizations and companies throughout Westchester, New York City and beyond. We help education majors land assistant teaching positions, guide nursing majors through clinical rotations, position accounting majors for internships that lead to full-time offers and more.
Innovative Projects & Entrepreneurship
Iona fosters innovation and entrepreneurship, and welcomes all students to participate in our annual Iona Innovation Challenge (IIC). Throughout the semester, participating students from all majors are invited to develop a solution to a challenge facing society that interests them. Winners from the IIC receive funding to make their ideas come to life. Regardless of the outcome, participating is a win in itself, as all students gain valuable experience in what it takes to start a business from the ground up.
Research Presentations
Research may happen in a lab or classroom, but it takes Iona students all over the world. From business to chemistry and beyond, Iona students regularly present their research at symposiums and exhibitions all over the globe. These experiences not only build academic and professional skills but also create invaluable networking and career connections for our students.
