Dr. Kreger is the founding program director for the new Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Her teaching experience includes instruction on human development, pediatric rehabilitation, neuromuscular rehabilitation, assistive technology, KinesioTaping, serial casting, manual therapy, and service-learning. She continues to mentor students with doctoral research projects. Her scholarly work includes investigating pediatric rehabilitation, the use of assistive technology, professional behavior development in doctor of physical therapy students, service-learning, and adaptive sports. Service activities include a collaboration with West Virginia University to create an interprofessional pediatric assistive technology clinic, serving as a member of the West Virginia Interagency Coordinating Council, serving as research committee chair for the APTA-WV, USATF national certified official, and practicing with students in the departmental pro bono clinic. She continues to practice as a board-certified clinical specialist in pediatric physical therapy, focusing on early intervention practice, and as a medical volunteer for the USOPC and US Track and Field. Her clinical practice experience includes acute care/inpatient care, outpatient orthopedic care, inpatient pediatric therapy, outpatient pediatric physical therapy, pediatric home health, and early intervention.

Dr. Alison Kreger is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She later completed her Doctor of Education in Health Sciences with a Certificate in Teaching and Learning at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She is board-certified in pediatric physical therapy through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, is pursuing specialization in sports physical therapy, and is a certified Kinesio Taping practitioner.

Dr. Kreger’s scholarly work focuses on pediatric physical therapy, assistive technology, professional behavior development in physical therapy students, service-learning, and adaptive sports. Her research has been shared through poster and platform presentations at national and international conferences, including the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting, the International Seating Symposium, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, and the World Congress of Physiotherapy.

Clinically, Dr. Kreger provides early intervention services for children from birth to three years old and serves as a medical volunteer for Team USA/US Track and Field. She has also served for eight years on the West Virginia Interagency Coordinating Council. Within the American Physical Therapy Association – West Virginia Chapter, she is the current Chair of the Research Committee.

Since 2008, Dr. Kreger has been a core faculty member in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program and has served as Program Director since 2021. Her teaching expertise includes student research mentoring, human development, pediatric physical therapy, service-learning, assistive technology, neuromuscular diagnosis, acute care rehabilitation, and neurorehabilitation.
