Susana Plass teaches courses in introductory education and is a student teacher supervisor. She comes to Iona University with an elementary education background where she served as a teacher and technology coach for grades 1-6. Before teaching, Professor Plass ran a satellite office in New York for a multi-million-dollar company that exported ferrosilicon to the United States. The communication and organizational skills that she obtained in that position translate well to the classroom and have helped her foster long-lasting relationships with students, parents and co-workers.

Professor Plass’ philosophy of education focuses on helping students realize their unique talents. She brings a plethora of experiences to help facilitate this and creates an engaging environment where everyone feels excited and encouraged. Her goal as a mentor to future teachers is to provide professional guidance and support as they further develop their own pedagogy.
